Your Yorkshire Life
IT was with great sadness that we heard of the death of Jane Tomlinson, a remarkable Yorkshirewoman who inspired so many as she fought a seven year battle against cancer. She put herself through numerous endurance tests, including marathons, triathlons and a 4,200-mile bike ride across America, raising £1.75million for cancer and children’s charities along the way. I know her smile and encouraging words raised the spirits of friends and strangers alike and it has been difficult for many to say goodbye.
In this month’s magazine we announce the shortlist for our food and wine awards (page 176), the most comprehensive in the region. This is one of the most exciting events in the Yorkshire Life calendar and there will be full coverage of our awards evening in November’s magazine. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Oulton Hall Hotel in Leeds for hosting the event and to our many sponsors and supporters.

Just short of 60,000 people attended last year – a figure the organisers are hoping to top this time. READ MORE »
