West Yorkshire certainly has some strong contenders for the cosiest pubs in the county. Here a dozen that you might like to try.
The 3 Acres Inn and Restaurant, Huddersfield
The 3 Acres has been under the same ownership for 40 years and consistently provides top notch prepared by top chefs using market-fresh produce. The inn, set in the Pennine countryside, has collected many accolades for its food and first class service including picking up Yorkshire Life’s Dining Pub of the Year 2015 award.

The Queen o’ t’ owd Thatch, Leeds
This is a modern dining pub recommended often for its Yorkshire Sunday roast. The Queen o’ t’ owd Thatch claims a great wine list and staff are happy to recommend drink pairings for each dish be they ales, wines or cocktails. And don’t worry about leaving your pooch at the door, as this is a dog friendly pub, with areas where you can drink and dine comfortably with your pet.

An informal pub where a leisurely pint is encouraged but which also serves fine seasonal food including their home-cured charcuterie range. Shibden Mill Inn, Halifax
The award-winning Shibden Inn has a reputation for warm hospitality and excellent dining using local produce and vegetables from its own kitchen garden. There is an extensive range of dishes to choose from including breakfast, Sunday lunch, a set lunch and early bird as well as afternoon tea menus.

The Butchers Arms, Hepworth
Tuck into some fine dining from the al a carte menu. The sweet corn fritters with avocado, chilli and coriander sounds like a perfect starter. There is a fixed price menu too with delicious sounding dishes including harissa spiced fish goujons with lime and chilli mayonnaise. Definitely worth a visit in our book.

Ring O’ Bells, Thornton, Bradford
Check out the lunch and early evening menus at this lovely pub which is now under new ownership. It’s still one of the best in West Yorkshire and the proof has to be in their puddings; the warm plum fruit pudding with rum and raisin ice cream sounds delicious.

Cow and Calf, Ilkley
The Cow and Calf is a country pub with wonderful views over Wharfedale, an idyllic backdrop for a good meal including classic beer battered line-caught cod and chips. The bar serves cask ales and a selection of fine wines to pair with your meal.
