Established in 2004, Rustique is an independently owned bistro-restaurant specialising in rustic, French food set in a vibrant, upbeat whilst homely atmosphere in the heart of historic city of York.
Offering a large selection of freshly cooked dishes, the review for these two centrally located restaurants say it all.
Castlegate is located close to the Yorvik Viking centre and a stone’s throw from Cliffords tower, and is set over two floors in an old building complete with stain glass windows. The accommodation offers an intimate downstairs whilst upstairs there is a large dining area plus a conservatory and, when the weather permits, an outside eating terrace. They offer a large a la carte menu along with a very popular and reasonably priced two, or three course set menu respectively priced at £14.95, and £17.95 .
Lendal opened in 2013 and is located across from the museum gardens. Set over two floors, the ground floor is again an intimate setting whilst the basement opens out to a larger dining area. This restaurant offers the set menu, and specials lunch time menu. Staff in both restaurants are attentive and pleasant, and the food is plentful, well cooked and tasty. The decor is bright and displays plenty of French art and memorabilia along with the signature “French Lady”. Both restaurants offer an extensive French and new world wine list and various other alcoholic and
non alcoholic drinks.
Booking is highly recommended to ensure a table.
