Recently added to the 2018 Michelin Guide, Tapasya on Beverley High Road first opened in Hull in 2013. Mr Mahapatra and Mr Tirkoti had a clear vision of the restaurant they wished to create. It would stand out from the rest, offering Indian food using only the finest local produce cooked with care and finesse. The result is a dining experience unique to Tapasya’s region in the UK.

The restaurant continues to uphold its original philosophy. Before sampling the mouth-watering food, diners can enjoy an array of cocktails in the restaurant’s plush bar area. The cocktails follow in the food’s footsteps, as they are also made up of classic recipes with an Eastern influence.

Once seated guests have a large choice of excellent wines, chosen by the restaurant’s sommelier, to match with their impending dining experience. The kitchen enjoys an abundance of quality ingredients from the local area and combines them with ancestral Indian cooking techniques. The chefs even dry and grind spices in house, ensuring that every element of their dishes is fresh and vibrant. It is this balance of warmth and luxury that makes Tapasya wholly unique.

Tapasya@Marina was established in 2016, a part of Hull’s regeneration as City of Culture 2017. The new restaurant is located in Hull’s Fruit Market, which has been at the heart of the city’s vibrant festival, art and cultural scene since 2009.

The restaurant is the definition of elegance and style. Diners can relax in beautifully contemporary surroundings as they enjoy the extensive wine selection and food fusion that has become so associated with the name of Tapasya. The restaurant follows in its sister restaurant’s footsteps, offering the best quality Yorkshire produce.

Tapasya@Marina expertly combines fine dining with authentic Indian street food. The chefs are led by Saurav Nath, who has perfected his craft at Michelin starred Indian restaurants such as Benares and Gymkhana. His team make the most of their exceptional, locally sourced ingredients by using ancestral techniques used in every region of India.

Apart from the a la carte and tasting menus on offer, customers can enjoy a traditional Thali lunch, which sees each course served all at once. It is a perfect option for those in a hurry, enjoying a lunch break, or just indulging in an uninterrupted lunch. Not only this, but the restaurant offers a unique take on the traditional afternoon tea, by substituting the usual patisserie, scones and sandwiches with sweet and savoury Indian treats. All of this combined with a stunning view of Hull Marina, results an unforgettable atmosphere that epitomises Hull’s new era.
