We toast the best of the best in Yorkshire's booming hospitality industry at our prestigious annual Food & Wine Awards. Jo Haywood reports Photographs by Andy Bulmer and Graham Lindley
It really was a night to remember when hundreds of people from the top table of Yorkshire's food, wine and hospitality industry gathered at The Queens Hotel in Leeds to celebrate another successful year.
They were brought together by Yorkshire Life for our annual Food & Wine Awards, the highlight of our calendar and our way of paying homage to the incredible work going on in restaurants, hotels, farms, stores, as well as schools and training colleges, across the county.
'Our awards are the most comprehensive of their kind in Yorkshire, judged by some of the most respected experts in the field,' said publisher Andy Phelan, who launched the celebrations along with Esther Leach, editor of Yorkshire Life, and Annie Stirk, our food and wine consultant.
'The shortlist, compiled over months of visits and tastings, reflects the excellence and diversity on offer. We know our awards help to make a difference to the success of the winners and those who are shortlisted.'
Guests enjoyed champagne and canaps before making their way through for dinner with a distinct Yorkshire flavour, including regional meat, fish, cheese, fruit and vegetables delivered fresh to the table from within the county boundaries.
They were joined once again this year by BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration, who ensured the presentation ceremony ran smoothly and brought his own inimitable warmth and humour to the stage, and by our guest of honour for the evening, Jay Rayner the food critic for The Observer.

Traditional Pub of the Year - Ye Old Sun Inn, Colton, Tadcaster
Local Producer - Sloe Motion, Barton-le-Willows, York
Chef of the year - Harry Gration, Thierry Dumouchel
Education Award - St Aidan's School, Harrogate
Hospitality Innovation - Piazza by Anthony, Leeds
