Strictly Ballroom: The Musical

A glittering alternative to traditional festive shows, this UK premiere of the hit musical by Baz Luhrmann (creator of Romeo and Juliet and The Great Gatsby) is not to be missed. The inspiring story follows a champion ballroom dancer who defies all the rules and follows his heart, not only to find his true calling but also his true love. Directed and choreographed by Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie, it also features songs from the well-known film.

A Christmas Treasure Island

On a stormy beach young Jem and her Uncle David discover a treasure map. With the help of Long John Silver and his band of pirates, they set sail in search of gold but are betrayed before they reach their destination. Will Jen make it home again, or join the marooned Ben Gunn on the island forever? Full of original songs and music, this new adaptation by award-winning writer Debbie Oates (Coronation Street) is a festive treat for all ages.

The Witches

Roald Dahl’s scariest book is brought to life in this terrifying treat for the whole family. Directed by Nikolai Foster (Annie, White Christmas), The Witches features a talented cast of actor-musicians and mind boggling illusions that will leave you flabbergasted.

Cinderella

The new Crowns Theatre at the KC Lightstream Stadium will be the backdrop for this glittering re-telling of the much-loved fairytale. Expect plenty of magic, pizzazz and comedy escapades delivered by a star-studded cast including Linda Lursardi as the Wicked Stepmother, the Grumbleweeds as the Ugly Sisters, and Rainbow’s Zippy and George.

Cinderella

Following last year’s astounding pantomime at the National Railway Museum’s Signal Box Theatre, York’s legendary dame Berwick Kaler and the gang are back where they belong: on the brand-new stage at the newly-refurbished York Theatre Royal, promising even more incredible sets, stunning costumes and special effects.

Peter Pan

The Snowman Tour

A big screen, an iconic film and world-class musicians will combine to create a mesmerising show at York Barbican. Following on from its highly acclaimed tour last year, Carrot Productions returns to spread the magic. See Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker brought to life by Tom Scott’s animated film, accompanied by a live orchestra, before listening to some of the UK’s top musicians perform Howard Blake’s soundtrack – including ‘Walking in the Air’ – whilst the much-loved  film is shown on the big screen.
