Ellesmere College was founded in 1884 by Canon Nathaniel Woodard. It is part of the Woodard Corporation, a group of Church of England schools, and it draws strength from its foundation. Pupils of all faiths are welcome at the College, and all faiths are respected.
The aims of the Woodard Schools are to educate young people for responsibility, leadership and service; and to provide a broad well balanced curriculum and enlightened pastoral care; and to offer an experience of Anglican worship and an understanding of Christian faith and values in a caring community.
Ellesmere College is a school that values individuals. Ellesmere's aspirations for pupils have always been higher than simply passing examinations: however vital examination success is, it is not enough on its own to prepare young people to be successful adults.
An Ellesmere education is a preparation for living adult life successfully, considerately and with a sense of personal fulfilment.

Pocklington’s curriculum has been developed to motivate and stretch pupils. Following foundations at Lyndhurst our junior school and in the Lower School, there are wide-ranging options in Year 9 (13+) and GCSE (14+). Sixth-form AS and A2 subjects offer a diverse selection of subjects and combinations. There is excellent university and careers advice. Music, drama and art thrive, as do sport, outdoor education, community service, the Combined Cadet Force and other extracurricular activities. Boarding Pocklington is committed to full boarding. A new purpose-built senior boys’ boarding house was opened in April 2007. Boarders have their own programme of social and house activities after school and at weekends. See our website for further information.

Meals are provided in a central dining hall on the campus. A wide choice of food is available at all meals, when staff, pupils and visitors eat together.

The Hammond School is a school with a difference. It gives young people with a variety of talents and interests a chance to develop a freedom of expression, self discipline and a life-long love of learning. Our teachers and support staff form a dedicated, energetic and caring team, who work to encourage the individual child's learning style, and make their time at school an enjoyable experience. Hammond pupils are recognised for their respect for others, good manners and self-confidence. We encourage young people to achieve their full potential in academic studies, alongside dance, drama or music training. We are recognised by the government through the Music and Dance scheme as a 'Centre of Excellence' and have strong links with the local community. The school values the relationship with parents and families. I would encourage you to visit us to absorb the atmosphere and to find out more about this unique small school.
