Earlier in the day there was Pimms, fruit punch and Mumm Rose Champagne on the terrace to the music of the Karl Mullen Trio before readers were invited to tour some of the gardens at the house led by David Barker. Readers David and Valerie Naylor who travelled from Scarborough for the Yorkshire Life event said they enjoyed meeting the head gardener and welcomed the chance to ask him questions. ‘The garden tour has given us ideas for our own garden which is by the coast,’ added Valerie. Readers also enjoyed the wine supplied by London wine merchants, Corney and Barrow, represented by Chris Halse as well as Mumm Rose Champagne represented by Helen Balfour.
