Is Runswick Bay the prettiest village in Yorkshire?

When people head to the Yorkshire coast, the famous resorts such as Scarborough and Whitby are the first places that spring to mind.

Runswick Bay can certainly claim to be the prettiest seaside village in the county, alongside the likes of Staithes and Robin Hood’s Bay.

The pretty red roofed cottages that cascade down the side of the hill provide a perfect backdrop to this shallow inlet on the North Sea coast. It’s the perfect place to take photos of the beautiful Yorkshire Coast.

It’s also within the boundaries of the North York Moors national park and is on the route of the Cleveland Way, a national trail that runs 110 miles between Helmsley and the Brigg at Filey.

We have a couple of walks from our archive for you to try, you can head north to visit Staithes, or you can head south to Kettleness.
