The Garden Rooms at Tennants – Standing Out From The Crowd

The Garden Rooms at Tennants The Garden Rooms at Tennants

In North Yorkshire we are truly blessed with amazing local food produce and an abundance of great places to enjoy them. From humble tea rooms in our lovely market towns to gastro pubs in The Dales and gourmet restaurants in our major cities. With such a vast array of choice, standing out from the crowd takes skill, knowledge and passion.

The Garden Rooms stands out as a truly unique venue, situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, incorporating a restaurant & bar and café and is part of Tennants Auctioneers, Europe’s largest family owned auction house. With more than 80 sales every year, there is always something to see and do. Visitors to the café and restaurant can combine a visit with a browse around the free to enter galleries and exhibitions, where rare and beautiful objects are on display ahead of the forthcoming sales. The Garden Rooms also hosts exhibitions, concerts and events so a visit can be so much more than simply enjoying great food!

The team of chefs at The Garden Rooms, led by Executive Chef Paul Richardson-Mackie continually design new dishes and refine menus to create beautiful, distinctive, seasonal food. Paul takes time to research and source produce to create his vision for local, sustainable and traceable ingredients, crafted into inspiring seasonal menus.

Paul started his career at Wakefield Technical College before winning a two year Francis Coulson Scholarship. Since then Paul has gained more than 15 years’ experience in some of Yorkshires finest venues and has built a team to bring together the breadth of food choices The Garden Rooms is renowned for.

Paul and his team create menus that promote the best the region has to offer according to the time of year whenever possible. However, although the focus in The Restaurant is squarely on regional sourcing, the menu is never narrow minded. Ingredients and methods are also chosen to add a genuine imaginative twist but are never gimmicky. Himalayan salt aged beef is mouth-wateringly tender and flavoursome whilst gin and tonic cured salmon and charred red chicory satisfies the curious palate. Wine pairings are similarly well considered.

The Restaurant is open 7 days a week from 11am – 4pm with a choice of seasonal specials or a la carte and Afternoon Teas are served between 2pm – 4.30pm. The popular Sunday brunch and lunch menus have become a firm favourite with those looking for great quality, affordable food served in a refined but relaxed setting.

The café is open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm (with additional hours around auctions) and is the perfect place for a cup or freshly brewed Yorkshire Tea and a slice of homemade cake or something tasty from the breakfast or lunch menus. The children are always kept entertained by the designated chalk tables, colouring in activities or children’s TV. Children’s menus are available in both the café and restaurant.

If you are celebrating, why not hire The Private Lounge and Dining Room? For exclusive use, The Private Lounge and Dining Room are the perfect choice for a special occasion. The Private Lounge and Dining Room are also ideal for business meetings, VIP hospitality, celebratory dinners and drinks parties. With its own bar and exclusive private balconies both inside and out, this is also the ultimate choice for watching one of the many musical events on throughout the year in stylish comfort with the best seats in the house.
