You are invited to join us at a very special readers’ dinner to mark Hull UK City of Culture on Friday, June 23rd. Our guest speaker is journalist, broadcaster, author and Hull UK City of Culture chairperson Rosie Millard who always welcomes the chance to write or talk about Hull.

Rosie attended Hull University and although she lives in London she visits the city regularly to support its arts organisations and educational institutions. She attended the 50th anniversary celebrations of the University of Hull’s drama department and aimed to inspire the city’s journalists of the future by speaking at Journalism Day 2014 – an annual event organised by Hull School of Art and Design at Hull College, held at Hull Truck Theatre. Rosie is a keen marathon runner and in June 2014 she completed the Humber Half Marathon, wearing the runner number 2017 with pride.

Our hosts are Drewton’s in South Cave, near Brough in East Yorkshire who have prepared a fabulous Yorkshire inspired menu for the evening. Drewton’s run by Katie Taylor, on the Drewton Estate have a reputation for preparing mouth watering dishes with the finest seasonal produce from the estate and from a network of local farmers and growers as well as directly from their own farm shop butcher.

During the weekend following the dinner Drewton’s are staging a meet the producer event with a Hull 2017 theme and will feature their Hull-based suppliers and food producers. They are also inviting local school children to create Hull 2017-themed artwork which will be framed and go on display in their special City of Culture Art Gallery.
