The Gawthorpes are creating a luxury lodge park on the edge of West Tanfield, a thriving village in North Yorkshire. The six-acre park location is beautiful, surrounded by farm fields and woodland, all within easy striking distance of the Yorkshire Dales and towns such as Harrogate and Thirsk as well as the cathedral city of Ripon.
The first phase of the development is almost complete. This year has been all about getting the infrastructure in place, says James. A lot of the messy work has been done which we think is important.
It means that next year when we will be concentrating much more on sales, buyers will have a clear idea of what the park will look like. And for once the weather has been on our side - it has rained so much this summer that the lake at the park has now filled.
Sarah and James knew from the beginning the style of lodge they were offering at West Tanfield had to be exceptional, different to anything they had seen on the market and yet still be available at an affordable price.
They also wanted to get buyers involved right from the beginning. The cedar wood lodges we build are bespoke, says James. Buyers can design their own layout; one bedroom, two or three bedrooms, bathroom, a cinema room, sitting room, separate dining room, kitchen. We will work with a buyer to create exactly what they want within their budget.
But if buyers just want to move straight in to a completely furnished and equipped lodge then that can be arranged too. Sarah is expert in creating warm and inviting interiors. And each lodge has two parking spaces.
