The Yorkshire coast is one of the most fascinating visitor destinations in the county attracting tens of thousands of holidaymakers and day-trippers every year. There is always something new to discover.

There are the popular seaside resorts such as Whitby and Scarborough that have been firm family favourite for generations, while the old fishing villages and ports such as Bridlington and Robin Hood’s Bay are worth a visit for those looking for a more tranquil spot on by the sea.

There are hidden gems such as Staithes and Saltburn further up the coast that are fantastic for a day out and offer spectacular views and great photo opportunities.

Wildlife can be found in abundance on the coast with places such as Spurn Head attracting wading birds and Flamborough Head and Bempton Cliffs offers a spectacular sight of migrating birds such as puffins and gannets.

Keen walkers will also find plenty of to occupy them as the coastal area is full of routes for walkers of all types and there is also the Yorkshire stretch of the England Coast Path.

And of course, we are all foodies in Yorkshire, with plenty of seaside cafes and restaurants for you to try, and what trip to the seaside would be complete without fish and chips? We think they always taste better by the sea.
