The city of York welcomed its first hot air balloon festival even though heavy rain forced flights to be cancelled on the last day of the three-day event.

Hot air balloons from all over the UK arrived at the Knavesmire at York Racecourse for the fiesta which included a funfair, live music, a beer tent and street food stalls.

Organisers put public and pilot safety first and cancelled flights when weather worsened.
