York Musical Theatre Company has teamed up with the vintage style café, Flax & Twine, on York’s historic Shambles, to offer a competition prize full of vintage style. You could win a vintage afternoon tea for two in Flax & Twine’s adorable vintage café, accompanied by a shopping voucher to browse in their vintage shop plus a pair of tickets that evening for the 1940s musical comedy Betty Blue Eyes.
The Alan Bennett play ‘A Private Function’ is given a hysterical and touching makeover in this utterly British musical comedy which is stuffed full of unforgettable characters, eccentricities and the star of the show, Betty the adorable pig. It’s the show that really brings home the bacon.
it is 1947 in a small Yorkshire town. The elite are planning to celebrate the impending marriage of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip with a lavish banquet complete with Betty, a pig reared just for the occasion, while the locals have to make do with Spam.
