To mark the 50th anniversary and to raise money for the Future 50 Appeal, the Harrogate International Festivals have worked with iconic pottery designer Emma Bridgewater to produce a special limited edition anniversary mug.

The mug, which is decorated in Emma Bridgewater’s classic pattern Black Toast, features a celebration of aspects of Harrogate International Festivals’ work over the last 50 years.

This stylish and collectable mug is exclusively available from the Harrogate International Festivals, priced at £20 (plus £5 postage and packaging) and only 1,000 mugs will be produced.

The festival has a rich heritage of working with world renowned British potteries to create commemorative pieces for landmarks in its history. For the 10th anniversary of the Harrogate International Festivals the traditional potteries of Coalport and Wedgwood created wonderfully intricate traditional commemorative designs which act as a true reflection the festivals’ past.

For the first 21st century celebration the Harrogate International Festivals has turned to Emma Bridgewater Pottery, one of the largest and most sought after creators of ceramics in Britain to create a commemorative mug that is a reflection of the development and work of the Festivals over the last 50 years.

Emma said: ‘I’ve always loved Harrogate, from trade shows 30 years ago to the joys of Bettys and the tempting Fat Rascal. So the Harrogate Festival is an easy one to say yes to, whether that be to do a talk or to design a mug! I am so pleased this stylish mug is going down a storm.’

Each mug sold will generate £10 towards the Future 50 Appeal, helping Harrogate International Festivals to achieve their ambition to create a secure future for the festivals and to dramatically increase the cultural opportunities for Harrogate and the wider region.

Mugs can be bought from the festivals office during normal office hours, at Harrogate International Festivals’ events, by telephone or by mail order. Contact the Harrogate International Festivals office on 01423 562303 for further details, or send cheques direct to Harrogate International Festivals, 32 Cheltenham Parade, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG1 1DB.
