Owning your own holiday home in Yorkshire

Imagine sitting in a hot-tub on the deck of your own individual holiday retreat, sipping a glass of wine, watching the sun set over the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, the hardest decision to make for the following day being whether to walk to the pub for lunch along the riverbank, or drive to Ripon for a spot of shopping.

This is the reality of Cedar Retreats, an exclusive development close to the village of West Tanfield in North Yorkshire. With planning permission for 32 lodges with gated access the site for privacy and security, each retreat is on a generous sized plot with plenty of parking. The landscaping is designed by Chelsea Award-winning Landscape Architect, Alistair Baldwin around a central lake.

Designed to blend into the environment in a natural setting, all the lodges are designed to suit the individual requirements of the owner, and an in-house interior designer can advise on everything from overall layout to internal fixtures and fittings.

“There are two and three bedroom lodges available, plus planning permission for one-bedroom ones, too,” explains James Gawthorpe, Managing Director of Cedar Retreats. “You decide the plot size – the outsides are similar but all the interiors are individual and reflect the owner’s personalities. It doesn’t take long – just 12 weeks from commissioning to completing the build. They all have hot-tubs, wi-fi, and Sky. And of course there is no stamp-duty to pay.”

Things to do in Yorkshire

Owning a Cedar Retreat means you are close not only to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, but also only a short drive to attractions such as Fountains Abbey and Newby Hall; there are also adventure parks such as Lightwater Valley and Aerial Extreme to keep the children happy and bustling Harrogate and York are close by for shop-a-holics and lovers of traditional Yorkshire tea-rooms.

Plus there are golf courses within easy reach, as well as riding, fishing and wonderful countryside walks.

And West Tanfield itself has two pubs and a village shop – everything you need for a relaxing stay.

Owning and Letting

Many people dream of their own holiday home where they can really switch off and relax, and whilst some want to keep it to themselves, others like to earn an income stream when they are not staying in it by letting it out to other holidaymakers.

Cedar Retreats owners who decide to do the same have the peace of mind of knowing that Cedar Retreats themselves will manage all aspects of letting their property to maximise income, convenience and quality.
