A list of bbq’s, festivals, fun activites and more in honour of Yorkshire Day.
Here is a date for your diaries, the 1st of August is officially Yorkshire Day. Celebrate the history of the county and regional pride by joining in with one of our activities for the day. We think there will be something here for everyone.
Yorkshire Day Festival
The Yorkshire Day festival returns this year at Wentbridge House. Visitors can enjoy a special ‘Yorkshire Day’ menu at the hotel restaurant and visit the many local business stands setup on hotel grounds.
Yorkshire Day BBQ
Cedar Court Hotel Huddersfield, is hosting a day of family fun including activities and a BBQ. Activites on the day include a bouncy castle, garden games and family swim sessions.
1st and 2nd August
Yorkshire Super Hero Weekend at Stockeld Park
A weekend of super-hero fun is to be had at Stockeld Park on the 1st and 2nd of August inline with the annual Yorkshire Day action. Take part in the superhero ‘catwalk’ and be in with a chance of winning a ‘goodie’ bag for the best dressed hero.
Walk to Remember Yorkshire, Temple Newsam
Take part in a 10k walk in memory of someone special to you while raising money for the Marie Curie foundation. After completing the 10k walk you are invited to sit down for a picnic and enjoy live entertainment and fireworks.
The Emley Show
Visit an agricultural show on Yorkshire day this year, the Emley Show promises a host of activities, agricultural events, county crafts and more. Last year the show had a turn out of over 12,000 visitors with more expected this year.
Celebrate Yorkshire Day at Swinton Bivouac
Luxury camping destination Swinton Bivouac is hosting a day of outdoor fun. Try you hand at archery, view the falconry display and enjoy the live music and food stalls. The site is also home to a Druid’s Temple which is a local charm in the area.
11th Annual Yorkshire Day Dinner at Baldwins Omega
Established family run restaurant, Baldwins Omega, is hosting its 11th annual Yorkshire Day Dinner featuring celebrated Yorkshire man, Mike Cowan as the after dinner speaker and musical entertainment from The Woodhouse Silver Prize Band.
Ilkley Summer Festival
Ilkley Summer Festival opens fittingly on Yorkshire day. The Yorkshire Day declaration will take place with the Yorkshire train following shortly after, in celebration of 150 years of the first train coming to Ilkley. Other events such as the vintage car parade and the ‘We’ll Meet Again’ Tea Dance will follow.
Yorkshire Day Ilkley Moor Walk

Andrew White and Nicky Busby organise s social hike on Ilkley Moor. Join the walk and enjoy a well deserved drink at The Dick Hudsons Country Inn. Meet the team at 10am at the Cow and Calf Rocks car park.
York Gallery Reopens
York Gallery reopens on Yorkshire Day this year, after an £8 million development. Visit the gallery on this special day and get a chance to be one of the very first visitors to view the new gallery suites added through development.
Yorkshire Day Luncheon
Head Chef Nick Evans has designed a special Yorkshire menu to celebrate produce from the White Rose county.
England’s oldest visitor attraction, open since 1430, hosts a Yorkshire Day celebration inviting all the family. Celebrate the historic county of Yorkshire at Mother Shipton’s grounds and enjoy a free cup of Yorkshire Tea in the Tearoom.
Saddleworth Yorkshire Day Celebrations
Take part in special Yorkshire Day celebrations in Saddleworth. The event is due to star a brass band playing in the Museum Gardens, speeches and the reading of the Yorkshire declaration. This will be followed by a parade along High Street to King George V playing fields for the ‘County Fair’. The event will commence at Museum Gardens – Uppermill, Saddleworth, West Riding.
