Guests who attended the fundraising dinner held in the garden of the Boycotts' beautiful home in Boston Spa in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance enjoyed the best Yorkshire food. A specially devised menu included much of Rachael and Emma's favourite local produce and entertainment was provided by Wetherby Silver Band. There was also a raffle with prizes including tickets to watch the England v Australia one day international at Lord's this month.

Geoffrey said: ‘I’m very happy to help. They have two helicopters and they help a lot of people. One of them is kept at Nostell Priory, two miles from where I was born at Fitzwilliam. We went to see it and it’s quite marvellous. It can be airborne in two minutes and can be almost anywhere in Yorkshire in four minutes.

‘They only have funding for a doctor, so they have to raise the £12,000 a day they need to keep going. We didn’t have tuppence ha’penny when I was growing up but I’m lucky, I’ve earned a bit of money and I have a nice house and I’m happy to do what I can to help.’

Geoffrey also hosted a question and answer session in the marquee that weekend in aid of Martin House Children’s Hospice which is based in the village.
