It must have been among the toughest decisions the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust has had to make choose the best photographs to feature in their 2014 calendar. But they managed it and found a few more which will take space in what is becoming one of the most sought after county calendars.

The winning photograph is called Aysgarth in Autumn by Tony Fyfield. The competition is the latest initiative in the ongoing partnership between Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage specialist Dales Holiday Cottages (part of The Hoseasons Group) and YDMT. Both organisations were impressed by the extremely high quality of the photographs submitted.

The winning photo was judged by photographer Kerry Harrison who said: I like that this photograph is a little bit of an unexpected view of a familiar subject. The foreground branches really lead the eye through the frame towards the stream and I also love the hazy back light. It also works well in terms of colour palette. It reminds me a bit of traditional Japanese line drawings and paintings whilst still being very English.

Dales Holiday Cottages has been a supporter of YDMT since 2006 and during this time has donated a total of 10,400 to support the charitys vital work caring for the landscape, environment and communities of the Yorkshire Dales.

The 2014 charity calendar will be available to buy at ydmt.org/shop from August 2013 onwards.
