More than 200 guests helped to raise 8,500 for the Forget Me Not Trust at a charity lunch in Wakefield. They welcomed special guest author, broadcaster and celebrity gardener Alan Titchmarsh who spent the afternoon talking to guests and signing books.
The event at Bagden Hall, Scissett, was organised by Fixby Friends, a support group of the Forget Me Not Trust which was set up to care for children who have life-limiting illnesses and their families.
The trust aims to raise 4 million to build a hospice in West Yorkshire which will provide respite, emergency and end-of-life care. A further 1.5 million each year will be needed to run the hospice which will include community based teams to give care in the home as well as bereavement support. For more information about the work of the trust see www.forgetmenottrust.co.uk.
