Guests at Harrogate Ladies College group of schools summer Butterfly Ball helped to raise 8,500 for the refurbishment of the gym.

The ball was organised by the parents and friends of Bankfield, Highfield and Harrogate Ladies College. The head mistress, Rhiannon Wilkinson, thanked parents and supporters and added:

The gymnasium plays a central part in school life at HLC, not just in sporting terms, but as the centre of many cultural activities for the whole school.
