More than 300 guests helped to raise funds for Saint Catherines Hospice during a ball themed as an enchanted garden at The Spa, Scarborough.

Money raised at the ball goes towards patient care at Saint Catherines which provides specialist palliative care for more than 1,500 people a year across Scarborough Whitby, Ryedale and parts of East Yorkshire, a geographical area of 1,600 square miles, the largest area of any hospice in England.

Saint Catherines director of funding development David Marshall said: Once again the ball has been a tremendous success and lived up to its reputation as one of the hospices absolute highlights of the year.

We had more than 300 people enjoying themselves and expect the event to raise around 18,000 for the hospice, which is absolutely fantastic.

We are really grateful to everyone for coming along and of course to our sponsors, in particular Adverset Media Solutions, Blue Fin, Deep Sea Electronics and Lloyd Dowson and everyone who donated prizes for helping to make this a magical night.
