Poor weather may have grounded many of the planned flights at York’s first hot air balloon festival but it didn’t spoil the fun
The city of York welcomed its first hot air balloon festival even though heavy rain forced flights to be cancelled on the last day of the three-day event.
Hot air balloons from all over the UK arrived at the Knavesmire at York Racecourse for the fiesta which included a funfair, live music, a beer tent and street food stalls.
Organisers put public and pilot safety first and cancelled flights when weather worsened.
