Sheffield Theatres crowned 2012 Regional Theatre of the Year

Sheffield Theatres have been named as the Regional Theatre of the Year in The Stage 100 Awards recognising the outstanding work at the theatre during 2012.
Sheffield Theatres have been named as the Regional Theatre of the Year in The Stage 100 Awards, recognising the outstanding work at the theatre during 2012.
Sheffield Theatres, which comprises the Crucible, the Lyceum and the Studio Theatres, was praised for the range and quality of both its in-house productions and its programming of touring shows. The award will be presented at The Stages New Year Party at the New London Theatre on Friday 25 January.
Sheffield Theatres' Artistic Director Daniel Evans and Chief Executive Dan Bates also entered the top 20 of The Stage 100, a list of the most influential people in the performing arts.
Sheffield Theatres' Artistic Director Daniel Evans said today: "I am truly delighted that Sheffield Theatres has been named Regional Theatre of the Year. It has been an extraordinary twelve months for us and this award is a testament to the loyalty and support of our audiences, the dedication of our actors and creative teams, the commitment of our partners and of course, the passion of our staff. I cant think of a better way to begin a new year."
The annual awards are run in conjunction with The Stage 100, the papers yearly analysis of the most influential movers and shakers in the industry. The Stage 100 recognises the achievements of high profile individuals and The Stage 100 Awards celebrate performing arts organisations and the teams behind them. Six categories in total have been awarded by The Stages judging panel.
