At least 320 guests celebrated the work of Open Arms Infant Homes in Malawi at a fundraising ball at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate. More than £40,000 was raised by local businesses as well as guests and individuals who donated raffle and auction prizes and those who took advertising space in the event brochure.

Emma Vanson, fundraising manager said: ‘The support that we received for the 2013 celebration ball was absolutely fantastic especially in these tough economic times. Jane and Judith and the whole committee arranged an excellent evening that raised a considerable amount for Open Arms Infant Homes, we are absolutely delighted with the result.’

The event is a major fundraiser for Open Arms, which needs about £260,000 a year to carry out its life-changing work. To find out more about Open Arms, go to openarmsmalawi.org or contact Emma Vanson at emma@openarmsmalawi.org
