Walk in Style, a leading retailer of ladies designer fashions, shoes and handbags based in the heart of the World Heritage site village of
Saltaire, in West Yorkshire, recently marked 30 years in business, by celebrating with customers.
An all-day fashion show supported by Frank Lyman Design of Canada was held at the store until late in the evening with customers travelling from as far away at Nottingham to attend.
Suppliers were also on hand to give advice to customers. A fund-raising raffle was organised with proceeds given to St Gemmas Hospice, Leeds.
Originally specialising in quality shoes and handbags, current owners for the past five years Smita and Brian Lymbery have invested heavily expanding from a single storey business into a complete fashion house offering everything from casual to cruise and cocktail wear.
An online store has also been introduced allowing customers to view and buy from the full range of products available in the comfort of your own home.
The premises, with two fully air conditioned floors, are situated in the main shopping parade of the village.
The store has a bright exterior with illuminated windows until late in the evening allowing people visiting local restaurants or out for a stroll to view
fashions along with shoes and accessories to match.
The introduction of designer labelled clothing has enabled the company to gain a reputation for offering customers the chance to select complete head to toe outfits along with matching accessories. Haute couture service is also available from the Magrit range allowing customers to have shoes made in a colour to match their special outfit.
The range of sizes offered are shoes starting at 2 up to 8 and clothes from 8 to 20.
Customer satisfaction is the aim, quality and a warm personal service is offered where women know they can select in comfort without fear of being pressurised into buying. Smita is available to advise clients at all times and to supervise staff with many years experience of the fashion industry.
Training continues to be provided. Smita does the buying, attends many exhibitions at home and abroad and makes visits to manufacturers premises in Europe, ensuring purchases are of the quality expected by her customers.
Knowing many of her customers personally, her purchases are often made on their behalf.
With stock space limited, in many cases only one of each size of garment stocked and once sold is not replaced.
Whilst not exclusive, customers are less likely to see a friend wearing the same outfit as they may if purchased from other high street stores.
Walk in Style are open six days per week from 9.30am to 5.30pm and with ample adjacent car parking. However, as some customers travel from as far away as Scotland and London, from time to time, late evenings are arranged.
